The company that makes those iconic Green Army Men figurines is now making them in female figurines after getting a request from a six-year-old girl.
President of BMC Torys Jeff Imel just showed off the first prototypes of the Army women toys at the Chicago Toy Soldier Show over the weekend.
He received a letter from first-grader Vivian Lord asking, “Why do you not make girl Army men,” she asked in her letter. “My friend’s mom is in the Army too, so why don’t you make them too?”
Vivian’s mom,Brittany, says it all started when her daughter won some Green Army Men at an arcade and after playing with them, she asked why none of them were girls. The smart six-year-old asked mom to do a Google search to see if any existed because she wanted to get some, but they could only find pink ones. Vivian quickly pointed out that those were not even women, just men in pink and she said “Army men don’t wear pink.”
The Green Army Women figurines will be available by Christmas 2020 and no one is more excited than Vivian. She says, "It makes me so happy and proud."
