A baby zebra born in Kenya has captured the hearts of the social media world when it was born with spots instead of stripes.
The zebra was “spotted” in the Maasai Mara National Reserve in Kenya and is the first of its kind in the Mara Reserve.
Parmale Lemein, a wildlife specialist says the baby zebra most likely has melanism, the opposite of albinism. He also says that zebras with the condition normally don’t live past six months.
Zebras have stripes due to a lack of melanin production, making them black with white strips.
