Buzzfeed went straight to baristas to find out what things coffee customers are doing to get on their bad side and this is what they found:
- Pour your coffee out into the trash can to make room for cream and sugar– “We have to take that trash out, and if enough people do this, the bottom of the bag breaks and we get all of the old liquid over our shoe.”
- Pick up a drink without looking at it or reading a name on it– “If you accidentally pick up the wrong drink and take a sip, we have to remake it.”
- Ask for five separate transactions in one car through the drive-thru– “If you and all of your friends want iced coffees, and you want to pay separately, please go inside to order and pay.”
- Leave straw wrappers on the pick-up counter– “Nothing makes our blood boil faster. Please walk it to the nearest trash can, which is most likely less than three feet away.”
- Complain that an extra-hot drink isn't hot enough -"Milk is usually steamed to about 150°, but it can get taken up to about 170°. When it gets too much hotter, it'll start to burn and curdle."
- Tell us a drink was supposed to be iced after you made no indication of that when you ordered it– “If you want an iced latte, you have to actually say "iced latte." If you say "latte," we're going to make you a hot one.”
- Watch us like a hawk as we make your drink– “Please don't stare at us, it won't make your drink come any faster, and it makes us unnecessarily nervous.”
- Order from a secret menu – “We don't know any of those recipes. They aren't in our training.”
