The Toledo, Ohio Police Department is putting a fresh spin on the ice cream truck. Since last month, the 640 members of the department and civilian volunteers have been driving around to local neighborhoods and handing out free ice cream.
The idea came to Police Chief George Kral when he saw another department do the same thing.
The truck is even painted with artwork from local children and it's been so popular that the minor league baseball Toledo Mud Hens have partnered with the police to keep the project going.
The “Cops & Cones” truck will hit a different neighborhood every week through the end of the season.
