New one, same as the old one ...Have you ever vowed, after breaking up with someone, that you would NEVER date that type of person again? Seems most of us never do that. We all have a type. And it turns out that person is a lot like us – and a lot like all the other people we’ve dated. A new study from the University of Toronto has found that not only are we romantically attracted to people who are similar to us … but also similar to people we have dated in the past. “It’s common that when a relationship ends, people attribute the breakup to their ex-partner’s personality and decide they need to date a different type of person,” says lead author Yoobin Park. “Our research suggests there’s a strong tendency to nevertheless continue to date a similar personality.” (EurekAlert)
Speaking of being attracted to people like you …Whether it’s a Southern drawl, a New York accent or a Texas twang, we like people who speak the way we do. A recent study found that people are more attracted to and feel more connected to people who speak the same way they do. Researchers found that everything down to the way people pronounce their vowels gives the listener a sense of comfort and community. (You Beauty)
