Dating is expensive … and really expensive based on where you live. According to research by Match.com, the average cost of a date -- dinner for two, a bottle of wine, and two movie tickets -- is about $102.32 in the U.S. But if you live in the Northeast, California, or Hawaii, you’re paying a lot more than that. In New York, the average cost of a date is $297.27. In New Jersey, it’s $259.60. A date in California will run you $226.35. And dinner and a movie in Hawaii will set you back $239.95.
On the other hand, the Plains states are the place to be if you want to date inexpensively. South Dakota is the most affordable place for a date – at just $38.27, followed by North Dakota ($42.43) and Nebraska ($48.91). (Yahoo)
How many hours of television do you watch a day? That answer depends a lot on your age. Research based on Nielsen data reveals that 18- to 34-year-olds watch the least amount of television a day – 2 hours and 17 minutes, on average. Those between the ages of 35 and 49 watch an average of 4 hours and 8 minutes per day; 50- to 64-year-olds tune in for 6 hours and 11 minutes; and those 65 and over watch an average of 7 hours and 24 minutes of TV every day. But this doesn’t mean that 18- to 34-year-olds have less screen time per day than older generations. It’s just that they are streaming on services like Netflix as well as spending time viewing content on their phones and tablets. (Business Insider)
A beach in France had to close … because of a frisky dolphin. Yep, a beach in France’s Brittany region is closed to swimmers because there’s a dolphin the locals have named Zafar that is looking for love in all the wrong places – or, rather, species! Zafar has been getting frisky with beachgoers and pretty much anything that moves in the waters he calls home. That includes boats! Poor, Zafar. He can’t seem to find a female dolphin match so he’s broadening his horizons. What’s a good dolphin got to do to get a date in France?! (Buzz 60)
