Two years ago, Lauren Gauthier rescued a hound named Victoria from an animal shelter. Little did she know that Victoria would one day save her life.
After a few months in her new home, Victoria started sniffing Lauren’s face when they were cuddling. More specifically, Victoria was sniffing an exact spot on Lauren’s face that Lauren assumed was a pimple.
Even when the pimple went away, the dog just wouldn't stop paying attention to that spot.
So, Lauren went to the doctor to see what all the fuss was about and, sure enough, it was skin cancer. Lauren caught the cancer early and had it treated before it could spread and do even more damage.
Lauren is on the road to recovery and will have to continue to check things on a regular basis to make sure the cancer stays away. And in the meantime, Victoria will continue to be rewarded with extra treats and hugs. (People)
