A Texas teen is giving back to an organization that helped her and her family during a crucial time. Maddie Barber recently won more than $30-thousand at the Kendall County Junior Livestock Show and instead of buying a new car or saving the money for college, she donated it all to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
The high school junior was treated for brain cancer at St Jude in 2017 and 2018 and says she received a lot of support from the hospital at that time, so she wanted to pay that forward with this act of kindness.
“Everyone at St Jude was super nice and it was a hard time, especially for my parents,” Maddie says. “But they got lots of support and so did I.”
And she’s been cancer-free since 2018!
