Tim McGraw dropped out of an upcoming Netflix series to focus on his health.
The beloved country star will reportedly undergo back surgery, which will require time to recover. McGraw, 57, was previously slated to star in and executive produce the bull riding drama before dropping out of the “physically demanding” role, per a recent report from Deadline. The Netflix show remains untitled as of publication time on Monday (January 27). Deadline previously described the series: “Set in the fierce, competitive world of bull riding, the series follows a megastar champion (Tim McGraw) facing a life-or-death crossroads when confronted by the arrival of a fearless young rider whose very existence challenges his ways and unearths secrets that force him to reckon with his past.”
McGraw’s previous acting credits include 1883, a Yellowstone prequel series that also starred his wife, fellow country artist Faith Hill. McGraw has also appeared on Tomorrowland, The Blind Side, Friday Night Lights and more throughout his career.
Recently, McGraw announced he’s taking the stage later this year at the “legendary” Field of Dreams movie site, located in Dyersville, Iowa. McGraw said when he announced the show that “my dad would have loved to see this one.” The country star’s late father, Tug McGraw, played for the New York Mets and Philadelphia Phillies during his Major League Baseball career. The former pro athlete died in January 2004. He was 59. McGraw’s “once in a lifetime” show is set for August 30.
