Margo Price Asks The Opry To Invite Anita White, A.K.A. Lady A, To The Opry

Margo Price performed at the Grand Ole Opry this weekend and inserted herself into the drama between the band Lady A and Anita White, the blues singer who also goes by Lady A.

After performing a cover of the 1960s tune “Skip A Rope,” that dealt with racism, Price applauded the Opry for speaking out in support of Black Lives Matter.

Then before performing the title track of her new album “That’s How Rumors Get Started,” she added, “You know, Lady Antebellum has had a platform here. I think it would be really wonderful if y’all invited Anita White — the real Lady A — here to come and sing,” noting, “You know, country music owes such a great deal of what we have to Black artists and Black music, and there (is) just no place for sexism, racism in this music.”
