A bill introduced in the Ohio House of Representatives proposes to rename a portion of I-270 for Officers Eric Joering and Anthony Morelli.
The bill would rename I-270 between State Route 3 and Cleveland Avenue the “Anthony Morelli and Eric Joering Memorial Highway.” The bill was introduced by Representatives Anne Gonzales and Rick Carfagna.
Officers Morelli and Joering were shot and killed in February while responding to a domestic situation at a Westerville apartment building. The man accused of their murder, Quentin L. Smith, is awaiting trial. If convicted, Smith faces the possibility of the death penalty.
