Original 'Frozen' Script Was A Lot Darker

Frozen has become the highest-grossing animated film of all time and most of that success is because of the amazing story the movie tells, but there were some earlier drafts of the flick that were much different.

The film's producer, Peter Del Vecho, revealed to Entertainment Weekly that Queen Elsa, the heroine of the flick, was almost a villain.

In an early version of the script, Elsa and Anna weren't sisters or even royalty. Elsa was actually pure evil because she was stood up at the altar on her wedding day and froze her own heart so she would never love again.

As for the original final scene in the flick, that involved Elsa creating an army of snow monsters to attack Anna and Kristoff. In that version, Prince Hans was still two-faced and he triggered an avalanche to stop the snow monsters, not caring that it put Anna, Kristoff, Elsa and all of Arendelle in jeopardy. Anna convinced Elsa to use her powers to save the kingdom and prove that the real villain with a frozen heart is Hans.

Disney decided against it all because, according to Del Vecho, "The problem was that we felt like we had seen it before. It wasn't satisfying. We had no emotional connection to Elsa - we didn't care about her because she had spent the whole movie being the villain. We weren't drawn in. The characters weren't relatable."

Clearly the right decision was made.
