The last time I saw John I was in a hurry in to leave the building and he was at his computer. And I didn't have time.
For 15 1/2 years John and I would shoot the crap about something as I was leaving and he was getting to work, about to start his Show prep. Sports, mostly, but sometimes politics, or what he had planned for his Show that particular day ... or he'd ask what we did on our Show that morning. Small talk, mostly, but I think we both enjoyed it. It wasn't a daily thing, but it was often.
But last week I was running out (somewhere, seems incredibly insignificant now) of the building for some reason, and there he was, sitting at his computer. But I didn't turn around and stick my head in the 'TVN jock lounge like I usually did. That day I just didn't think I had the time. Learning of John's passing today ... what do you suppose was my first thought?
Remember, when we "have the time" for that family member or friend, next time they may not. I'll miss ya, buddy.
