Social media babies …According to a new survey out of the UK, it seems there’s a new trend of parents “making up” names for their new babies – so that they will have a unique identity on social media later in life. Parents are coming up with names like Wrenlow, Tessadora, Jessalie and Jaspin. The survey found that 72% of parents believe having a unique name will make their child stand out. (SWNS)
Forget ghosting … stashing is the new, awful dating trend. Stashing occurs when you’ve been dating someone for a while … but they fail to introduce you to any friends or family. And they don’t even acknowledge you on social media.Ouch. According to couples therapist Irina Firstein, the stasher might be stashing you because they are embarrassed by or have issues with their family, they don’t see a serious future with you, or because they may be seeing other people at the same time. Get a date on Valentine’s Day …If you don’t have a date for Valentine’s Day, seems February 14th is a great day to find one. Apparently Valentine’s Day is one of the busiest days for online dating apps. According to dating app Hinge, 35% more dates are arranged on the night of Valentine’s Day than on other days. And data from Facebook Messenger found there is a 20% uptick in conversations on Valentine's Day, compared to the average day in February. And the folks at Tinder say activity on the app is at an all-time high between January 1st and February 13th. Research from Dating.com found that, worldwide, online dating activity jumped more than 18% between February 1st and February 14th. (Bustle)
Pizza danger …Yesterday was National Pizza Day, and while most of us know pizza is delicious, it’s apparently also dangerous. Research conducted by medical service provider Babylon Health found that pizza caused more than 3,000 visits to the emergency room in 2018, which was 50% higher than the year before. Many of the injuries included people accidentally slicing their fingers with a pizza cutter, choking, or even falling while walking on stairs carrying a pizza. The figures were based on emergency room medical records where the word "pizza" was included in the doctors' notes. (NY Post)
