TODAY IS:

Giving Tuesday: Yesterday was Cyber Monday, a day to buy. And today, December 3rd, is a day to give. It’s Giving Tuesday – a day to celebrate generosity and give to others. 'Tis the season of giving ... so give of yourself this holiday season ... even if it’s just your time. Post your pics at #GivingTuesday.

TODAY’S QUESTION:

  • It’s crazy to think that we’re less than one month away from the end of the 2010s and the beginning of the 2020s. What’s your biggest accomplishment of the past decade? What do you hope for most in the next decade? What do you hope changes in the next 10 years?

TODAY’S TOPICS:

Hashtag Roundup …In the classic Christmas book and movieA Christmas Carol, Ebenezer Scrooge is visited by three ghosts: The Ghost of Christmas Past, Christmas Present and Christmas Future. Twitter users are sharing who their ghosts would be at#MyThreeGhostsOfChristmas.

Some responses:

  • Past: the Ghost of Myspace; Present: the Ghost of Twitter; Future: probably still Twitter, but hopefully with an edit button.
  • The Ghost of Christmas guilt, the Ghost of Christmas Tired, and The Ghost of Christmas Hangover.
  • Ghost of Christmas Weight Gain, Ghost of Christmas Too Much Booze, Ghost of Christmas Too Much Family Staying Over.
  • Empty fridge; 2. Empty purse; 3. Empty bank account.
  • Ghost of cut your hair, get a “real” job, and why aren’t you dating? ... Wait, that’s just my parents.
  • Regret, What If and Maybe Next Year.
  • Black Friday, Cyber Monday and hole in my wallet.
  • Anxiety, Depression and Pumpkin Pie.

They say there’s no place like home for the holidays …but apparently not everyone agrees. A new survey found that 21% of respondents said that spending the holidays at home isn’t what it’s cracked up to be – and they are considering traveling somewhere instead. 71% said they are open to celebrating in a “non-traditional” way. But even though people say they want to travel or do something different for the holidays … most stick with the traditions – even if it’s just out of guilt.

72% of those surveyed said they have a set of traditions they follow during the holidays each year, and 63% said they would feel guilty if they didn’t follow their usual routine. (Study Finds)

How much more could you get done if you didn’t spend so much time watching TV?According to a new survey, the average adult watches three and a half hours of TV a day -- that’s 1,248 hours a year and a whopping 78,705 hours over a lifetime. (Study Finds)

Have you ever stolen something from someone else’s bathroom?Seems it’s pretty common. A survey found that 50% of respondents think it’s no big deal to help themselves to items in someone else’s bathroom – whether it’s shampoo or toothpaste or lotion. And this is weird … 21% of those surveyed said it was acceptable to borrow a toothbrush and 19% said it was just fine to use someone else’s razor. (SWNS)

Well this is telling …A survey found that one in three Americans say they wish they could give someone the gift of “less stress” this holiday season. What are some other non-physical gifts people wish they could give someone as a gift?

  • Good health – 70%
  • Peace of mind – 60%
  • Time – 47%
  • Patience – 43%
  • Rest – 42% (SWNS)
