Chayce Beckham reflected on his “crazy” wedding that included an Elvis Presley impersonator.
The 2021 American Idol winner recently caught up with Bobby Bones on an episode of The BobbyCast. During their conversation, Beckham shared that he and his wife “got married in Vegas by an Elvis impersonator. I remember we paid for the package, and they said, ‘how many songs do you want Elvis to sing?’ And I was like, ‘well, not really any.’ I thought it was like, we walk in, do the deal and walk out. And they’re like, ‘no, well, it comes with songs.’ And I said, ‘well, he could sing one song.’ So, we get there. He sang like 13 songs. It was crazy. So, I’m just standing up there waiting for her to come walking down the aisle and he’s just up there singing to me. And I was like — I didn’t think this is how this was gonna turn out. And I’m like, my dad’s in a suit and a cowboy hat just looking at me like all serious. I’m just like, ‘what did I get myself into?’ …He was good, but he was doing, like, karate kicks in front of my face and everything. And I was like, ‘what’s going on in here, man? This is crazy.’”
Throughout their “candid conversation,” Beckham and Bobby also talked about “the drunk-driving car wreck that happened shortly before American Idol, why he didn’t think he had much of a future at the time, and how getting the call for the show gave him a new direction,” the episode’s description reads. “Chayce also shares the story of marrying his longtime girlfriend in Las Vegas with an Elvis impersonator, what he’s learned after a year of marriage, and why he decided to take time away from music. Plus, he looks back at the success of ’23,’ starting over in Nashville after winning Idol, and the next chapter of his career with his new project, Old Fashioned.”
