Dolly Parton delivered a must-see performance of “9 To 5” with powerhouse artist Kelly Clarkson, and the two superstars followed it up with a stunning a cappella rendition of “I Will Always Love You.”

Parton appeared on The Kelly Clarkson Show on Thursday morning (December 1), reflecting on some of the biggest moments of her career — past and present. The country music legend was among the latest class of artists to officially become part of the Rock Hall at 37th Annual Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony last month. Though Parton tried to withdraw her name from consideration, she pledged to accept her induction gracefully and told Clarkson she was honored. Parton has since shared her plans to release a rock album.

Clarkson also asked Parton about “I Will Always Love You,” the 1970s classic that Whitney Houston famously performed as the theme song of her early 1990s movie, The Bodyguard. Parton remembered that she heard Houston’s version for the first time on the radio while she was driving, and “I just freaked out. I had to pull over to the side (of the road, because) I honestly thought I was gonna wreck.”

Parton also reflected on Clarkson’s performance of the song, when she took the stage for a heartfelt tribute at the 57th Academy of Country Music Awards in Las Vegas earlier this year. Parton insisted — as she said during the ACM Awards — that Houston would have been proud of Clarkson’s rendition. Then, the country superstar joined forces with an emotional Clarkson to perform a stunning duet during the talk show (and Clarkson gushed that Parton is “like a magical fairy human”).
