Nicole Hudson had never met her upstairs Portland neighbor, Phillip Kirkland, before, but they finally did while they were both leaning outside their windows to clap and bang on pots for healthcare workers at 7pm.
They started chatting and then Phillip asked Nicole if she’d like to try the wine he was drinking. She said “absolutely” and he told her to hold out a glass. He managed to pour the white wine into her glass from a whole floor above and the moment was captured by a couple walking by at the perfect time. Phillip got the video and posted it on Twitter where it’s gotten over a million views.
Since then, the neighbors have become fast friends, but say they hope people don’t see the video as a “drinking challenge or a shoot your shot moment on how to get a girl.”
Nicole points out that they never would’ve met if they weren’t cheering for local healthcare workers. “It’s definitely about just making the best of a terrible situation that we’re all in,” she explains. “The video shows the funny side of being in quarantine and still finding some joy in it”
