According to fashion psychologist Anabel Maldonado, our workout clothing choices can reveal a lot about our personality type.
Here’s what your go-to activewear look says about you:
- Head-to-toe black- If you go for an all over black outfit, fashion psychologist Dawnn Karen says you “really want to focus on working out, not so much on what you’re going to wear.” Maldonado adds that putting on all black can feel like putting on armor to protect you for your workout.
- Bold- Those that opt for bright and bold, like peacock print leggings, may be self-assured and confident. Bold colors and patterns put you on display, so it’s a look for folks with high self-esteem.
- New trends- If you like to try out every new trend, you may be open-minded and crave novelty.
- Old t-shirt- Some people like to throw on any old tee to sweat it out and that could show they’re laid back. They exercise because they enjoy it and don’t really care about what others in class think.
- Matching sets- If you’re into coordinated activewear sets, you might be highly competitive and neurotic, Maldonado says. You may feel the need to be the best dressed one in class and you’re willing to overspend on activewear to do it.
