It's being recognized as one of the most anticipated new buildings of 2018 by Architectural Digest, But beyond the stunning design is the meaning in every square foot of the structure and surrounding park. A living tribute to more than 40 million Americans who have served this nation. It's the National Veterans Memorial and Museum and it's right here in Columbus, across from COSI.
The museum opens this Saturday, Oct. 27 with General Colin Powell as the keynote speaker. The 53,000 square foot museum will feature stories from veterans from Central Ohio and across the United States.
It's a museum about people who sacrificed their lives for our country. "What you are going to hear about are the stories of veterans. What it was like for them to leave home, to write home, to come home," said Amy Taylor, project manager for the National Veterans Memorial and Museum.
