Sleeping Too Much Could Lead to Dying Young

Keele University researchers analysed the sleep quality of three million people from 1970 to 2017.

Scientists from Manchester, Leeds University and the University of East Anglia found those who slept for more than eight hours would increase the risk of heart disease by 44 percent.

Lead researcher Dr Chun Shing Kwok told the Mirror: “Our study has an important public health impact in that it shows that excessive sleep is a marker of elevated cardiovascular risk.

“If excessive sleep patterns are found, particularly long ­durations of eight hours or more, then clinicians should consider screening for adverse ­cardiovascular risk factors and ­obstructive sleep apnea."
