Scotty McCreery. The Latest.

It's odd.  I was just speaking with Scotty back-stage at the Waterfront Jam on Friday night…..and now this.  The 911 phone call.

The 911 call made after Scotty McCreery and a few friends were robbed at gun point was not made by the teacher from Charlie Brown ... it just sounds like it.

TMZ has obtained the 911 call made early Monday morning after three gunmen broke into an apartment near North Carolina State University and made off with cash, wallets, and other property, including valuable electronics.

It's hard to say whether the "American Idol" champ is the one who placed the 911 call ... because North Carolina state law calls for the voices to be distorted on the tape.

So even though you've just been robbed, at least your identity is safe in North Carolina.

UPDATE:

An arrest was made in Monday's home invasion and armed robbery involving Scotty McCreery and some friends at an apartment near the campus of North Carolina State University, where Scotty is a student.

19 year-old Mikkail Jamal Shaw turned himself in to police yesterday (Tuesday) and awaits his first court appearance later today (Wednesday.) He's been charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon, and is being held on a $375,000 bond.

Police are still searching for the two other suspects. The robbers took three cell phones, two wallets and a computer before fleeing. No one was hurt.

Scotty's mother says he's safe and at home in Garner, North Carolina.
